Halden is a pleasant shopping town with a rich selection of shops of all kinds. The downtown area has two large shopping malls within walking distance.

Not to be missed, we recommend a visit to the impressive Fredriksten Fortress. And if you have a special eye for architecture, you will find the many Empire-style buildings in the town of interest. 

Situated on the Idde fjord, Halden is surrounded by forests with great hiking opportunities. Haldenkanalen, the old waterway with its locks, is also well worth a visit.
